Buying and selling art with Leilosoc Art — how it works
How do I register? Is it free?
Creating an account at leilosoc.com is completely free and involves no deposit for online auctions. Registration requires your identification details and confirmation of your email address; once validated, you can bid in any sale.
How does bidding work?
Our art sales are timed online auctions: you place your maximum bid and the system bids on your behalf up to that amount. You are notified by email if your bid is surpassed, and you can follow your bids in your account. A bid is a binding offer to purchase and cannot be withdrawn.
Is the work awarded to the highest bidder?
The work is awarded to the highest bid if it is equal to or greater than the estimate value. If the final bid is below the minimum (85% of the estimate), it remains binding for 30 days as an offer, and the seller's decision is communicated to the bidder — adjudication is not guaranteed. After the auction closes, the winning bidder is normally contacted within 2 to 3 business days.
What will I pay on top of my bid?
For art, a commission of 20% is added to the hammer price, plus VAT at the legal rate in force. See the Conditions of Sale.
Can I see the works before bidding?
Yes — and it is encouraged. Works are exhibited at the Leilosoc Art Gallery, Praça Conde de Agralongo, Braga (16 to 28 October, daily 15:00–21:00). Works are sold in the condition they are in; condition reports and additional photographs are available on request.
Are the works authentic?
Works in our curated art sales are sourced directly from the artists or with documented provenance, stated lot by lot in the catalogue. Provenance direct from the studio is our standard for contemporary African art.
How and when do I pay?
Payment is due within 10 working days of the end of the auction. You can choose among the available methods: bank transfer, Stripe, Mastercard, Visa, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Title passes on receipt of full payment.
How is shipping handled?
Works in our art sales are located in Portugal and ship from Portugal — EU free circulation, no import duties within the EU. We arrange insured shipping at the buyer's cost, or free collection at our Braga gallery.
Can I sell art through Leilosoc Art?
Yes — see Sell With Us. Send photographs, dimensions and provenance for a free initial opinion and auction estimate.
