Do real ao imaginário 1 is the newest painting in the sale, finished in 2026, and Bela Rocha's most ambitious here: a tableau where readers, dancers, animals and interiors share one continuous dream-space. The title announces the itinerary — from the real to the imagined — and the painting makes the crossing scene by scene, in saturated pinks, oranges and turquoise. Narrative painting at full tilt.

About the artist

Bela Rocha

Bela Rocha (b. 1958) held her first solo exhibition in 1984 and developed her distinctive silk-painting technique in Brazil, later supported by a Fundação Oriente grant. She has exhibited in Maputo and Portugal — including Expo'98, Lisbon — and in Moçambi-Cá (UCCLA, Lisbon, 2023).
